My Dad is a simple meat and potatoes man. He doesn't like his food served with fuss or pompousness. So, for his birthday I knew I needed to bake him something simple but substantial. There is no cookie more homegrown all 'Merican than a basic chocolate chip cookie.
There are cakes which look absolutely stunning and gorgeous on the outside, but when it comes to the taste, it disappoints, and you just wished that it tasted as good as it looks. I've had a lot of those experiences, and in fact, I think I've made a few of cakes like that myself!

I spend every Tuesday evening meeting with the youth group in our church. It keeps me really busy but has turned into the highlight of my week. I know teenagers sometimes get a bad wrap, but our kids are awesome! So driven, so bright and energetic, and so kind to each other.
